As a lover of old houses, research, and history, I wanted to know everything there was to

know about my old house. Who built it? When was it built? Who lived here? Why is there a

commercial hand dryer mounted by the toilet in the back bathroom? You know, typical old

house questions. As a newcomer to town, knowing where to start looking has been

interesting. I first went to the county. No information before 1982. Next, I went to the

Georgia Room at the library. No information. I’ve contacted the local historical society. No

file has been created on our home. How could this house with its iconic Neoclassical

design on a prominent street in the historic district have so little known about it? Where is

the curiosity, people?!?

So, I went back to the local library with my shiny new library card and started digging

through digital copies of old newspapers. There was my goldmine! I can’t wait to share

more of what I found.
